Sorry I missed the meeting yesterday. I will be there on the 23rd and look forward to discussing this book!
Hola Blindness buddies! After the great discussion last week I’ve been formulating a theory. I think the white (as opposed to “black” blindness) is significant because white light is the presence of ALL colors rather than the absence of colors. Therefore I think the white blindness is a metaphor of excess, over-stimulation, over-consumption, etc. of society. The white blindness is technically a contagious disease but it attacks the person’s “soul” or psyche rather than the body. Being that the eyes are the window to the soul each affected person has become blind to their own soul/humanity because of society’s collective plague of excess.
Looking forward to more discussion!
It was nice to see you all again tonight. I’m looking forward to the last discussion in two weeks, and I’m glad we are going to continue through the summer. Happy Reading!
I think the discussions we have been having have been great!
Keep up the interesting and deep conversation! Can’t wait for the next book and the movie!
Hey everyone! I was poking around online tonight and found the publisher’s reading/discussion guide for *Blindness* and I thought I would post it in case any of you would like to take a look. I’m hoping it will help me take my thinking on the book in some different directions. I would just recommend not reading through it until you’ve finished the book to prevent anything from being spoiled!
